Construction work has restarted on 54 East 126th Street.

This pair of lots had, for over 100 years, a pair of troubled townhouses that were frequently occupied by the homeless and addicts looking for a place to use. A couple of years ago, Odyssey House gained possession of the land and knocked down the buildings that were on site:

Odyssey House left the site in mid-construction for years while they sorted out issues with their contractor. Work has recently resumed, and the project is expected to bring a number of short and long-term SRO residential facilities.

Across the Street

And, across the street, on the site of the former church - St. James - the foundations of a new residential building are underway.
