+ Containerized Residential Trash
UPDATE: In the 8/27 post the article mentioned a gym. This update is to reflect the gym that promoted and hosted the event (its logo prominently displayed in the ring posts). The event was promoted by Ronnie Love. Ronnie is the owner and operator of Harlem House of Champions, a Black-owned gym located at 235 West 135th Street, right next to the 32nd Precinct. This is a great way to support the cimmunity and the sport as a whole.
On 8/23, amateur boxing was on live display for free on W. 125th St. & Adam Clayton Powell Ave. as young men did their best to shine on a sunny and warm day in Harlem.
Originally scheduled for 8/18, the event, titled “SILENT VOICES UNITED INC. & HARLEM HOUSE OF CHAMPIONS PRESENT: "THE BATTLE FOR HOPE: UNITING HARLEM AGAINST GUN VIOLENCE" was rescheduled due to heavy rain. It was held at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building Plaza,163 West 125th Street.
The event, sanctioned by USA Boxing Metro, featured 13 bouts showcasing local talents from all boroughs. It was aimed as an alternative to the escalating violence affecting our youth in NYC.
