2023-2024s Featured Project: Between the World and Me

Apollo Stories: Digital Lessons from the Apollo Theater

The Apollo, Harlems beloved theater, has recently started something called “Apollo Stories”. This program creates a space for teachers, students, and anyone else interested to engage in thoughtful, curated digital lessons. These ‘digi-lessons’ are on topics like race, justice, culture, and identity, and come from a range of fellows all over the country. These fellows come together to work projects initiated or inspired by artist(s) from the Apollo main stage, whose work is chosen due to its themes, and the artists “fundamental commitment to using art as an educational instrument.” The lessons are easy to follow, and some include interactive aspects or activities. People of all ages will be sure to take something valuable away from the projects featured on Apollo Stories, and as the website claims, “stories hold the power to transform perspectives and spark real change,” so get to reading!
