+ Free Jazz Concert in the Harlem Rose Garden. Tomorrow!!!

A message from MMPCIA on a great new pop-up art display in Marcus Garvey Park:

It's my pleasure to welcome you to the second annual, “We’re Outside” pop-up art exhibit in Marcus Garvey Park.

As president of MMPCIA, I’m deeply grateful for the partnerships that have made this exhibit possible. Our collaboration with MMPCIA business member and exhibit curator, Heath Gallery, and partnerships with NYC Parks, City Parks Foundation’s SummerStage; Harlem Grown and the Mellon Foundation have been critical to bringing this exhibit to fruition.

Our hope is that this event will continue to grow, becoming a cherished annual tradition that continues to showcase the vibrant cultural fabric of our beloved community. To the talented artists who have shared their work: thank you for enriching our neighborhood with your creative gifts and artistry.

Visit our website for event details.

Enjoy the exhibit!

Warmly,

Madlyn Stokely, President, MMPCIA

Bertha Hope Quintet: Elmo Hope at 100

One of jazz’s living legends, pianist Bertha Hope has toured globally with artists like Nat Adderley, Dizzy Gillespie and Eddie Henderson, while being a respected educator and bandleader in her own right, with several albums under her leadership. She was bestowed with the National Jazz Museum in Harlem’s Legends of Jazz Award in 2018, and the Jazz Foundation of America’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024. Lately she has been spotlighting the underappreciated songbook of her late husband, the inventive composer and pianist Elmo Hope.
