The most authoritative source of data and analysis of housing in NYC is the Furman Center based at NYU. The Furman Center produces rigorous data on the complex interplay of race/class/gender/policy (and more) with housing and is the go-to source for evidence based studies on housing.
While the source data here is a few years out of date, it nevertheless conveys the general trends in our city.
