Changing the World, One Wall at a Time

"Education is not a crime” murals in Harlem

You’ve probably seen some of their work mural work throughout Harlem, but #NotACrime also has done work around the world, expounding on their theme that “Education is not a Crime.”

The group began as a fight for the right to an education in Iran for those of the Baha’i religious minority, barred from higher education because of their religion. Their website says, “We fight this injustice through creativity and art. Our campaign works with some of the world’s best street artists. We produce murals, digital media and community workshops, linking different communities of struggle to uphold the universal right to education.”

They’ve created a film about their work and a trailer, which can be seen on their website: http://www.notacrime.me/thefilms

There are more than 20 murals in Harlem. A map to their location is on their website. Enjoy!
