Marcus Garvey Park Upgrades
Hello Marcus Garvey Park Neighbors
This is the summer of construction on the west side of Marcus Garvey. The Marcus Garvey Path Reconstruction and Ramps Construction is being rolled out in 3 phases.
Phase 1 included the northern portion of the amphitheater highlighted in blue and red. Unfortunately, there were delays in receiving the pavers so this area will remain closed longer. The area in blue is anticipated to be opened at the end of June. The area in red is expected to be open at the end of July.
Phase 2, highlighted in purple will go under construction beginning June 10th to approximately the end of August. The staircase on 121th Street and Mount Morris Park will remain open. A new ADA ramp will be built at the 120th Street entrance. The pavers will be reconstructed and graded appropriately.
Phase 3, highlighted in pink will go under construction beginning September 2nd and will last approximately 9 weeks. The staircase on 121th Street and Mount Morris Park and 5th Ave and 120 Street will be closed. The ADA access on the south side of the Recreation center will be constructed and the pathways reconstructed.
Access to the amphitheater will be maintained throughout construction --either from the north or south side. Construction activities takes place from 7 am - 3 pm. Drainage will be cleared in all construction areas.
