Film Making For Teens and Beyond
Learn How To Make Films At The Maysles Center
Do you want to make films?
One of the FREE filmmaking programs at Maysles Documentary Center in Harlem might jumpstart your passion or your career! No previous filmmaking experience is required and you don’t need your own equipment either.
Vanguard DocMakers
Who: Young Adults age 18-24
When: Wednesdays, 4-7pm, starting November 8, 2023 through May 2024.
Get paid to make films! Vanguard DocMakers focuses on building confidence towards self expression and developing collaborative skills that pave the way for filmmaking success. You'll come out of the program having made a film of your own, and receive a stipend while doing it.
Teen DocMakers Lab
Who: Teens age 13-18
When: Fridays, 4-7pm, starting November 10, 2023 through May 2024.
Teen DocMakers Lab is an award-winning year-round after school and summer intensive film program for high school students, who work in small teams to make short documentary films. If you have a story to tell and want to make moving honest films about subjects important to you, then this program is for you!
Teen DocAuthors Fellowship
Who: Teens age 13-18
When: Tuesdays, 4-7pm, February - May 2024
Teen DocAuthors Fellowship takes a holistic approach to film, providing opportunities for students to explore media making skills (photography, video, sound), mood boarding and film criticism. If you're interested in exploring what the wide world of film has to offer, become a DocAuthor!
All programs are FREE, take place at the Maysles Documentary Center (343 Lenox Avenue, between 127th and 128th). Enrollment is limited, so apply ASAP to guarantee a spot. For further questions email [email protected].
