Harlem's Council Members Were Paid, For What?
The numbers are shocking. Central Harlem has had the fewest number of enacted laws compared to all other city council districts. Central Harlem’s elected officials were only able to get 5 laws passed over the last decade.
Compare this to East Harlem which had the highest number of enacted laws in the entire city! In the last decade, East Harlem (and a bit of the South Bronx) has had 79 enacted laws.
The contrast between Central Harlem and East Harlem is remarkable.
5,603 bills were introduced in total (in City Council) in the past decade (not including 9 withdrawn bills). These 5,603 bills became 1,714 laws.
