Tonight is the first HNBA meeting of the 2024/2025 season. And yes, you’re invited - Wednesday, September 11th. 7:00 PM at 2306 3rd Avenue.
HNBA has moved to a new meeting day - the 2nd Wednesday of the month for the 2024/25 season.
Tapashi Narine - the Administrator of Historic Harlem Parks - will present on progress regarding the Marcus Garvey Park paths/stairs improvement project, as well as highlights for upcoming fall events
Tonight we’ll have a representative from the CitiBikes for Students group that is advocating for low-cost CitiBike memberships for New York City Students.
We’ll also have a representative from Open Plans, a group that is looking at traffic issues near Marcus Garvey Park and finding ways to keep seniors, families, and everyone safer.

Lastly, we are very excited to have the community engagement coordinator for the Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) who will talk to us about the incredible work of the JRF.

Founded by Rachel Robinson in 1973, the Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) has perpetuated the memory of its namesake by providing generous four-year scholarships and comprehensive support to talented college students with financial need to ensure their success and develop their leadership potential. A new online platform, JRF IMPACT, shares JRF’s celebrated “42 Strategies for Success” curriculum with a broader college student population. With the opening of the Jackie Robinson Museum (JRM) in summer of 2022, the Foundation expanded its mission to preserve and celebrate the enduring legacy of one of the most important Americans of the 20th century. Exhibitions chronicle Robinson’s prolific achievements on and off the playing field against the backdrop of United States history. Invoking his role as a champion for racial, social, and economic equality, programming at the Museum focuses on critical issues that continue to challenge our society.

The location is in the Salvation Army building (2nd floor) and just enter on 3rd Avenue (2306 3rd Avenue) between 125 and 126th Streets. Come meet some of your neighbors and learn what’s going on in the community.
