The Legacy of Roberta Flack REMEMBERED in Harlem; an angel guardian.
Roberta Flack grammy award singer and pianist funeralized in Harlem New York at the historic Abyssinian Baptist Church on 137th St. March 10th , 2025 truly encapsulates a moment in time that a musician of distinction so loved and so cared for eulogized in such a way had she lived to see it she very well may had been overwhelmed with joys of this world having witnessed all those in attendance with sentiments of admiration for her musical career and her impact in this world.
Roberta Flack was a trailblazer, her craft of musicianship emphasized messages of black intellectualism, resistance to oppression, bigotry, racism and she walked and lived daily in that powerful existence many may recall.
Roberta Flacks music not scored phenomenally with elements of great music adorned with excellent lyricism about soulful beauty, and the black experience intentionally.
Roberta Flacks legacy lives on in absence of her physical presence in many ways including through the Roberta Flack Foundation, philanthropical organization founded in year 2010 to help educate children and support animal welfare (https://robertaflackfoundation.org/)
Roberta Flack was no stranger to success, her flourishing career exemplified her musical versatility between musical genres of jazz, soul, gospel and some may even say more.
Notable performances during her funeral of elegance by the esteemed and world-renowned Lauren Hill & Wyclef Jean/Fugees, heartfelt performance by infamous Stevie Wonder, legendary Valerie Simpson, and a lovely operatic performance of song Casta Diva (Norma) performed by Nia Drummond accompanied gracefully in elegance by Nebulous String Quartet (Berkelee College of Music).
