Harlem bus stops are the hottest in Manhattan, according to a new study from Transportation Alternatives.
Bus stops in Harlem have the highest average temperatures of any Manhattan district, with the warmest stops experiencing about 11 degrees more heat. Stops along Frederick Douglass, Adam Clayton Powell, and Malcolm X, as well as those on 116th Street, are especially affected.

Transportation Alternatives and NASA DEVELOP Environmental Justice team used thermal imaging satellites to measure summer temperatures at bus stops.
Harlem, a heat-vulnerable neighborhood, faces significant risks from high temperatures and are responsible for 350 annual heat-related deaths in NYC per year (on average). Note that black New Yorkers having twice the heat-stress death rate of white New Yorkers.
Where Do Polish Speakers Live?
The majority of Polish-speaking New Yorkers with limited English proficiency live on the northern edge of Brooklyn, radiating eastward from Greenpoint.
